3 Takes on Modern Apartment Design

Modern living seems to be what everyone strives for in one way or another. Even the throwback artisans that want to make their own candles and bake bread from scratch do not shy away from modern conveniences like washing machines and the internet. The three apartments featured in this post, each of which measures in at 60 square meters (645 square feet), uses modern sensibilities and style to create welcoming, beautiful homes for their inhabitants. Take a look inside these three apartments from designer Kostya Entaltsev.

LED Lighting Installed in all Tenant Suites

The Summerhill Place Apartments have installed energy efficient LED lighting throughout the building interior and exterior; including the interiors of the suites. Andre Molnar-Development Project Manager comments: “LED Lighting is the future. It’s more efficient, lasts longer and is more durable. We made the decision to add LED lighting to the interior of the suites at an additional cost as part of our Environmental Stewardship initiative. We believe in doing our part to conserve energy and protect the environment. Plus it’s an added benefit to our tenants”
According to BC Hydro, LED lighting is:Generally more expensive than other lighting options, ENERGY STAR LEDs save money because they use at at least 75% less energy than incandescent lighting and last a minimum of 25,000 hours, or 25 years based on average household use.
That life span is about 15 to 20 times longer than incandescent lighting, and about three times longer than CFLs.” Source: https://www.bchydro.com/powersmart/residential/savings-and-rebates/new-electricity-saving-products.html#ledlighting
According to a recent BC Hydro study: “Those in Nanaimo apartments (Group 2) had an average monthly bill of $84 ($20-$255).” Source: https://www.bchydro.com/content/dam/BCHydro/customer-portal/documents/corporate/regulatory-planning-documents/regulatory-matters/2015-02-16-rda-fg-frpt.pdf
LED lighting in the residential units means that tenant hydro bills can be reduced up to 75%. On an average monthly bill of $84 the monthly bill reduces to $21. That’s a monthly savings of $63.
Better for the environment and an added benefit to our tenants.
